Security model

Local cleanup with honest limits.

ZBrowser reduces the browser data normally left on a computer after use. It does not make the user anonymous online.

ZBrowser is designed to reduce

  • Browser history left for the next local user
  • Cookie and session carryover
  • Cache and browser profile reuse
  • localStorage, IndexedDB, and service worker persistence
  • Temporary downloads between users

ZBrowser is not designed to stop

  • Malware, keyloggers, or administrator monitoring
  • Router, ISP, VPN, DNS, or website logs
  • Browser fingerprinting
  • Windows pagefile, hibernation, crash dumps or memory forensics
  • Security software and EDR logging

Threat model

Built for casual local privacy after close.

The next person at the computer inherits less ordinary browser state. This does not replace endpoint security, network privacy tools or forensic erasure.

Scope

Local computer

Browser profile data, cache, cookies, downloads and session storage are the main focus.

Limit

Network visibility remains

Routers, DNS providers, VPNs, ISPs and websites may still record activity.

Limit

Not a replacement for endpoint security

Malware, keyloggers and administrator monitoring on the computer can still see what happens in a session.

Optional

SmartScreen warnings

Off by default. When turned on, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warns about sites and downloads Microsoft already knows to be unsafe, and sends the addresses you visit to Microsoft. It is not complete malware protection and does not replace antivirus software. Windows settings can keep it off.
